A message from Mercy Clinic leadership.
While worldwide attention around COVID-19 continues to accelerate, Mercy remains focused on the safety and health of our patients and co-workers. Mercy leaders are working proactively around the clock to act with an abundance of caution to keep you and our community safe.
Our next step in safeguarding patients and co-workers is to close Mercy Fitness Center and Mercy Sports Performance powered by EXOS, effective immediately. Both facilities will be closed for two weeks. While the current plan is to reopen Saturday, March 28, leaders will reassess the risk prior to reopening and may need to extend the closure.
We are sorry for the inconvenience to our members, but we must prevent unnecessary exposure to our patients and caregivers who visit our Mercy Edmond I-35 campus. Mercy Fitness Center will offer extended memberships, equivalent to the length of the closure, at no charge to our members. For example, if the fitness centers are closed for two weeks, members will receive two additional weeks for free.
There are simple things you can do to keep the risk of COVID-19, or any respiratory illness, to a minimum:
- Hand hygiene is crucial at all times. Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Using hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol is an effective alternative. Both should be done frequently.
- Avoid any hand to eye, hand to nose or hand to mouth contact.
- Be considerate when you are sick. Stay home if you are feeling ill. You should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to work. Cover coughs and sneezes using the crook of your arm (inside elbow).
- Practice the 6-foot rule. If you must be in a public space and notice someone ill, keep that distance to lessen your risk.
